Acupuncture and physical therapy
Grafton Veterinary Clinic believes in the use of modern Western medicine for diagnosis & treatment in conjunction with use of traditional Chinese acupuncture for the treatment of musculoskeletal problems in horses. Dr Alan Giles is a graduate acupuncturist from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of special needles into defined areas on the body of the horse. The needles are very fine, and well tolerated by our patients. They are usually only felt as a small prick as they penetrate the skin. While it is still not fully understood about the ability of how acupuncture can balance the body and allow it to heal itself, there is considerable scientific research in this field demonstrating its ability to provide pain relief, anti-inflammatory effects , reproductive & hormonal regulation & gastrointestinal support.
Does your horse need Acupuncture & Chiropractic?
Most commonly acupuncture & chiropractic are used for enhancing performance in the athletic horse. They are both excellent modalities for relieving musculoskeletal pain
